Travelling to the Continent this Ski Season?

The French & Italian Alps and the Best of Both Worlds

Aah, the idea of being able to travel again… whilst there is nothing more exciting at the thought, you may be apprehensive and unsure about booking that long-awaited trip.

We want to put your mind at ease by laying it out for you – every step of the way. Your voyage will be easier than you might think and from recent personal experiences, we want to encourage you to confirm your travels. Frankly, we want you to visit our region of The Alps and we look forward to welcoming you. Whether you are a returning guest or new to the ski scene - it’s been too long and it’s time to take to the snow!

Planes, trains and automobiles

With many ways to get there, you will surely be able to decide on your choice of transport and route from the UK. One thing we can guarantee you is a stress-free and comfortable transfer from an airport, train station or city centre. We will deliver you in safety and style to the door of your booked accommodation – either on the French side of the Hautes-Alpes or within the Via Lattea ski territory on the Italian side of the borderline, where Montgenèvre and Claviere meet.

The official ‘stuff’ required for travelling to either to France or Italy is as follows. Take heed to these travel requirements and guidelines and you won’t make a wrong turn.

Other than the necessary forms to fill out and ensuring that you have your vaccination records to hand and you are willing to do a pre-departure test, here is the UK government entry advice for France and Italy.

Current flight options and transfers with Snow Cab

If you plan to fly to France, the closest airport is Grenoble, which is about a 2 hour and 15 minute drive on the toll road to Montgenèvre (our HQ, where we are based) to give you an idea of the journey to the region, Hautes-Alpes.

Turin Airport on the Italian side is in fact the best airport to fly in to for many Alps locations, including Montgenèvre, which is only a 1 hour 30 minute drive away.

Flights from all over the UK coming into the region depart on Saturdays and Sundays. This ties in well with accommodation bookings which also run, mostly, from Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday.

A handful of airlines have flights to our ski region and to give you an idea of routes from the UK, here is a brief outline:

Jet 2 flies from Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh to Turin, and from Stansted and Manchester to Grenoble, with further route options available.

EasyJet flies from Gatwick, Luton and Manchester to Turin, and from Gatwick, Bristol, Edinburgh and Luton to Grenoble, with further options available.

RyanAir flies from Stansted to Turin, and Stansted and Bristol to Grenoble.

BA flies from Gatwick to Turin, and Gatwick and Heathrow to Grenoble, and from all the other London airports to other locations in the region.

Tui Fly flies from Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham, Bristol, Stansted and Gatwick to Turin, with further options available.

Flights to Milan Malpensa Airport, which is a 2 hour 30 minute journey from Montgenèvre,

can be taken from Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Manchester and Bristol. Alternative airports in the French and Italian Alps, a little further afield, are also routes you can take, and as for us, no pick up point is out of the way. For ease of reference and for more details on flights from the UK to the relevant towns and cities in France and Italy, here is the current listing.

At your service

No matter where you plan to take your ski trip, it will be our pleasure to transfer you there. As mentioned, we cover most of the Alps and our routes are extensive and we specialise in a number of popular journeys either side of the border, such as Turin, Milan, Lyon, Grenoble, Chambery, as well as resort drops in Névache, Serre Chevalier, and the resorts of the Via Lattea, such as Claviere, Sestriere, Sauze d’Oulx, to name a few.

Once you land, we will personally meet you, load you up in one of our 8-seater people carriers and whisk you away to your final destination. Enquire about a transfer route and get the show on the road with Snow Cab!

The same goes for train journeys. Book your Channel Tunnel trip to Paris and on to Oulx (Italian Alps) or experience the night train to Briançon (French Alps). As your train comes to a halt we will meet and greet you at the station and take you to the door of your ski accommodation.

Your ski holiday package – all wrapped up with us

Other components of your holiday can be arranged by us as we consult with our partners' snow holiday. Leave all the arrangements to the professionals – that’s us. Go Montgenèvre have been part of the Hautes-Alpes scenery for even longer than us. They are a dab hand at helping clients decide on the most ideal chalet, apartment or hotel, as well as booking those important extras for your ski holiday, such as ski passes, equipment, lessons and special trips and other snow activities. Between us, we know snow and we want to show you what a terrific ski holiday is all about.
